3. How do you transcribe sheetmusic?

5. What kind of other music do you like?

1. Do you have sheetmusic of...?
No. This website contains all sheetmusic I have transcribed. (top)

2. Could you transcribe ... for me?
No, at the time I'm not transcribing for other people (unless they pay me 3 figures ;) ) (top)

3. How do you transcribe sheetmusic?
I used to use Magix Notation 2. (great program!) But I recenly switched to Finale. I listen to the song for a few days, so that I really know it. Sometimes I print the guitar chords (google). It helps a little to have them but it doesn't matter much if I can't find them.
Then I open the mp3 file in Adobe Audition, select the first few seconds, and loop-play that a few times. Then I start transcribing, my piano is standing somewhat next to the computer so I often use that to check, and sometimes I just insert the notes into Finale straight away. Usually the first few parts of a song are more of a struggle. If it's a faster song I can slow it down a little, if there's a lot of other stuff happening (bass/drums/vocals) I try to filter them out a little so I can hear the piano better. When I've got the first part and the refrain it tends to go a little easier, since a lot gets repeated (so I can copy and paste ). (top)

4. Who are you?
Corien, 28. I've had piano lessons from when I was 7 to when I was 19, and I've continued playing on my own after I stopped taking lessons. Both of my piano teachers were clasically trained, even though that's not at all my favorite genre (I detest having to play a very strict beat - my first teacher really wasn't happy with me not pracitising the classical parts of my homework. In case she reads this: by now I can play 1 Bach song AND enjoy it ).
Nevertheless, I had a lot of fun taking lessons from both, the first teacher tought me technique and music theory (I'm afraid the latter didn't stick). The second tought me about chords a lot - I was a little sad having to quit lessons from her to go to uni, would have loved to learn more! In September of 1999 I went to study medicine. Didn't have my own piano - but the uni had a small music room, and I also bought myself a used Fender DG3 sunburst guitar. So: plenty of music, but not that much time.
In Januray of 2001 I got sick (can you spell "irony"?) and I was forced to drop out of medschool, quite playing sports ..blabla, sad story.
I moved back home. For a while I didn't play at all (too sick), but as my health improved a little I started again. (for the curious and/or interested: Post viral CFIDS and some autoimmune crap on top of it.) The big "advantage" of being sick is that I can watch a lot of TV series (the downside is that I can't do much else...).
So far there have been 3 very great TV series (as in: disconnect the phones and get mad at people who disturb you when you watch). Alias, House and Criminal Minds.
The brilliant Hugh Laurie - who plays House - also occasionally plays the piano in the series (and with Band from TV).
Because of him I started to learn a few more blues-es ( I looove blues!), and even a few classical pieces (still not my favorite).
Pretty much, I play what House plays. Except for jazz, I never got the lack of logic in Jazz.. it's really not my thing. Except for Hymn to Freedom by Oscar Peterson. What an incredible fun song to play! (top)

5. What kind of other music do you like?
Pop/Rock with a decent dose of blues .
